Member Spotlight – Marion Shpigel

Salute to a #JCFSTRONGMOM, Marion, for being May’s Member Spotlight! Congratulations!!!

Being physically active and playing sports has always been part of my life. I started tennis around 4 years-old and ultimately reached the professional level at 16 years-old. I played for a year and decided I wanted tennis to be part of my life but not my entire life. I went back to living with my parents where I finished high school, and then went to Syracuse University where I played 5th singles and 3rd doubles.

I’m a very competitive person and always try to push myself to achieve more. This mentality feeds into my approach to physical strength and conditioning. When I moved to Jersey City 14 years ago, I tried various gyms and occasionally played tennis, but there wasn’t a place or routine that was the right fit for me. A close friend of mine had gained quite a bit of weight after having two children and decided to join JCF. Her transformation to this day is mind-blowing. She will openly say it all started thanks to JCF. I had just had my first child and wasn’t pleased with how my body had changed so I decided to follow my friend: I signed up for one of the JCF Transformation Challenges and was amazed by the program and the results.

Fast-forward a few years and I became pregnant with my second child. I didn’t stay very active during my first pregnancy so this time I wanted it to be different. The nausea in the first couple of months made it challenging to attend sessions but once that was gone, I was there several times a week. The support I received during sessions throughout my pregnancy from both the coaches and my fellow members was tremendous. I was able to workout until August 1st, 2017 and my daughter was born August 2nd.

The most recent Transformation Challenge I completed in March 2019 totally changed my way of eating. I have definition in my body that I never saw before and this is all because of the changes I have made with my nutrition. These changes have not only improved my physical appearance but also my energy and strength.

It is with a very heavy heart that I am writing this as it is my last month with JCF. My family and I are moving out of Jersey City, and unfortunately I won’t be able to attend from our new home. JCF has been such a big part of my life the last few years. I have learned so much from my three favorite coaches as well as all the lovely members. I will miss you guys a lot and will continue to be motivated and inspired by all of you. #alldayeveryday
